Welcome Rachel Christine!

Rachel Christine was born on Jan. 27th at 1:35 PM. She arrived in this world weighing 7 lbs. 8 oz. and measured 18 inches long. We were lucky enough to get to be in the hospital when she was born. Big Sister Lauren, Megan, & Jeff are doing great. Not only are we proud Aunt & Uncle, we are also Rachel's God-Parents! What a joy to have a new addition to the family.

4 Months!

Michael and I can't believe it has already been 4 months- the time is flying so quickly!
The big news this week is our baby is the size of an avocado (approx. 4.5-5 inches in length)!
In other exciting news, we decided which room will be the nursery and we finalized the colors so Michael and I can begin getting the room ready.

Kappa Baby Shower

An amazing baby shower for the first time moms-to-be hosted by our girlfriends! We were blessed with good laughs, great memories, amazing food, and generous gifts during our annual Palm Springs ladies weekend.

Documenting our belly bumps from left to right: Jenn Stewart (due mid-March), Erica Spraker (due mid-June), Michelle Buell (due 5 days before me!), and me (due July 11th)

Morning sickness is finally gone!

The belly is starting to protrude more and more each day. When I wear non-pregnancy clothes it is even more obvious! The exciting news this week is that the morning sickness is finally gone. It wasn't too bad but it is definitely a much better feeling not being nauseaus morning and night!

End of the first trimester- 14 Weeks!

Such an exciting time! At my appointment last Monday I got to hear the baby's heart beat- loud and clear at 156 beats/minute. Fortunately the first time we got to hear the heart beat we were both together at the first trimester screening test but this was an added bonus! It was absolutely amazing!

This week's big developments with the growth of the baby: the baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, grab and possibly suck its thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, the facial muscles are getting a workout as it's tiny features form one expression after another. The baby's kidneys are producing urine, which it releases into the amniotic fluid around it — a process it'll keep up until birth. Additionally, our baby is stretching out. From head to bottom, it measures 3 1/2-4 inches long— about the size of a lemon — and weighs 1 1/2 ounces. The body's growing faster than the head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, the arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. The baby's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over its body. Our baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing it's job right — and it's spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though I can't feel its tiny punches and kicks yet, the baby's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.
